@ Year13
Kat is a 21-year-old Lebanese-Australian who grew up in Tamworth NSW. Kat relocated to Wollongong in 2018 to study a Bachelor of Communications and Media (Dean’s Scholar) with a double major in Global Screen Media and Marketing Communications and Advertising.
Kat is an extremely driven, resilient young woman with maturity beyond her years and a deep passion for social justice. Having experience facilitating large groups through her work as a student Marketing and Digital Media Ambassador for the University of Wollongong, Kat incorporates relatable content for students to resonate with even in large settings. She shares her inspiring story about overcoming the devastating impacts of mental health, and unpacks the different factors that influence youth mental health – from body image and eating problems to racism and expectations from families.
In the short time, Kat has been delivering The Truth Project, she has inspired many young people to both address their mental health struggles, and find a way to turn their passions into a career. Her content has especially resonated with young girls, and children of migrants, who have felt like they could relate to her experiences, with several students sitting down for one-on-one advice consultations after the presentations. Kat empowers her audiences by reminding them that no matter where they come from, they can be whoever or whatever they want to be if they are passionate enough about it.
